Hill: Allermuir Hill (Pentlands)
Date: 25th September 2011
Company: Just myself
Time: 58 Minutes

There are at least six different car parks below Allermuir Hill. I ascended today from the car park at Swanston, next to the Lothianburn Golf Course.

This was very much a quick up and down - without a rucksack, map, compass, GPS, … but I did take my camera.

From the car park at Swanston, I followed the road leading past some houses before following the wide track up the hill.

It was nice to see Arthur’s Seat so soon after setting off. It is a wonderful wee hill.
I ascended Arthur’s Seat along with North Berwick Law last year.

Once past the gate, I followed the right-branch of the track leading towards an area of gorse bushes and onto Allermuir hill.

I was really surprised to reach the toposcope and summit - as I thought the summit was still some way off. No map!

I was really impressed with the view along the Pentlands. This is a ridge I have got to do some time in the future.

From the summit, I returned to the car via the same route.
Then had a quick visit to Ikea, which is just five minutes along the road. Edinburgh Ikea is the nearest one to Banff .

A fantastic hill, that I will definitely be repeating in the future.
