Ann-Marie picked me up from home this morning at 5am before driving us to the Lake District. On reaching the Lake District, we didn't have any particular fell in mind. As we wanted a fairly easy initial day in the Lakes, after a 6+ hour drive, we initially considered an ascent of either Helm Crag or Pike of Blisco but ended up deciding to ascend Lingmoor Fell . Lingmoor Fell is both a Wainwright and a Marilyn.

For our ascent of Lingmoor Fell, we parked in a small free car park at Elterwater and after applying lashings of suncream were on our way.

We then followed a track leading towards Little Langdale before turning right to commence our ascent.

Initial ascent of Lingmoor Fell:

The weather was stunning and the ascent was nice and straight-forward, the only annoyance was the sound of a constantly barking farm dog which was barking at least once per second throughout the entire ascent.

Ascending Lingmoor Fell:

We were soon up onto the wide undulating ridge and progressed along it towards the summit of Lingmoor Fell.

On reaching the summit, Brown How, we stopped to take numerous photographs and to enjoy the views towards Wetherlam and towards the Langdale Pikes.

Instead of returning back the way we had come, we decided to continue along the ridge undertaking a traverse of the fell. During the descent there was a small section of easy scrambling on polished rock.

Following the ridge towards Side Pike:

On reaching Side Pike, we made our way down to the road which we then followed back towards the start.

The walk back along the road was pleasant.

Blea Tarn:

An enjoyable short walk. Good to be back in the Lakes, especially in such good weather .
